Akagera is the first of four Baho coffees we're roasting this year, and is the first natural process coffee we've worked with from the region! These coffees are imported by Sundog Trading (working in coalition with Semilla) and exported by Baho.
Coffee growing has been essential part of the economic restoration of Rwanda, with a government regulated industry that guarantees standardized prices. Even still, the majority of Rwandan coffee is controlled by just two multi-national companies, and most of the money ends up leaving the country. Baho differs from the neoliberal imperialist norm in a very material way - revenue from coffee stays in Rwanda. We love the direction the Baho / Sundog projects are headed in and are so honored to roast these coffees.
To maximize the vibrancy of this coffee, try to keep brew times a bit shorter than some of our other coffees.

Subscriptions are billed on the 1st of the month, but we roast and ship on the first Tuesday. Each order is packaged in vacuum-sealed boxes and is shipped via USPS.
